To Businesses During Covid-19

During these unprecedented times, a lot of businesses are seeking refuge. Many weddings vendors including wedding photographers and videographers are getting postponement after postponement. Here are a few tips you can do to both get a head of - and weather the storm.

Be proactive - not reactive.

Don’t wait for your clients to contact you. Have a plan, write it down and get in touch with your clients and let them know what your plan is, your availability, how you are handling postponements, and what your policies are, etc.

For us, we have been offering available dates to clients while also encouraging less popular dates, such as Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays (as Saturdays are quite full).

Know your contractual agreement - this is a time to lean on your agreement, but don’t be inflexible. Your clients are your first priority but remember you yourself/business need to remain sustainable in order to continue to serve them, others, your employees (if you have them), and yourself!

Do your best to accommodate all your clients. You may need to think outside the box and do things you have never done before, like - hire an associate! This inconvenience could be creating a great opportunity for you to make new connections and scale! Stopping thinking you’re the only one that can do it like you.

Be resourceful - not fearful

This is no time to panic, life happens, let’s have a plan and look for opportunity. Right now the government is helping in every possible way to sustain the economy. I am not going to pretend to be an expert on this stuff but here goes…These are the current programs you can take advantage of.

Economic Injury Disaster

First and foremost, if you are a subcontractor, business owner or are self employed in any way, you can apply for the Economic Injury Disaster, https://covid19relief.sba.gov/#/ - you will be considered for a $10,000 federal loan that does not need to be paid back.

SBA Paycheck Protection Program

For business owners that carry payroll - the SBA Paycheck Protection Program provides small business access to low interest rate loans (.05%), with payments deferred 6 months. You only need two things to qualify; fewer than 500 employees and have been in business before Feb, 15th 2020.

How much you will qualify for depends on your average payroll over the last twelve months - your monthly payroll multiplied by 2.5 (this can include independent contractors, commissions, etc).

The best part of this loan is that if the money goes towards payroll, rent, and/or utilities, it is 100% forgivable, meaning you don’t have to pay it back. This incentive is to avoid having to layoff stay during this trying time. If you have already laid off some or all of your staff this would allow you to bring them back on. There are some stipulations to this so please do your research.

Unemployment,… for the self employed?

This varies from state to state but for perhaps the first time in history you can now collect self employment during this time even if you are a subcontractor!

(Visit your state website)

Make the most of this season

This is a great time to revisit your processes, explore new systems/tools to improve your workflow and client experience and a time to engage more with your clients and potential future clients via social media. We have the opportunity to come out of this better but that will be based on what we do with our time right now.

Remember - We are all in this together, feel free to reach out if you need help or have questions!

Danilo + Andrea

Tower Hill Botanical Garden

Boylston, MA

We loved shooting this wedding! Danilo + Andrea’s summer wedding at Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Bolyston, Ma was made for a romantic day. Danilo + Andrea are the most easy going and care free people, their love for one another is real and a kind of love you know that lasts. Ryan + Alexis

Philadelphia, PA

This engagement shoot was one for the books! We took the trek from our office in Providence, RI and drove down to the city of brotherly love where we met up with Ryan and Alexis and captured some beautiful candid moments. The architecture of the museum and this drop dead gorgeous couple made it an effortless day. What we love about these engagement photos is the natural and effortless romance that’s portrayed.

Dave + Lyndsey

The Lace Factory

Deep River, CT

Dave + Lyndsey’s wedding day consisted of simple classic neutrals for the bridal party and a rustic, romantic feel for The Lace Factory creating the perfect juxtaposition. With so much character in one building there is no need for over kill on the decorations. We say keep it simple and let the bride and groom be the focal point of the day and let me tell you, Dave and Lyndsey did nothing less than that. They have such a sweet genuine love for each other. let’s just say there was tears during the intimate ceremony. Ending the night with a candle lit dinner, dancing and cake this day couldn’t have been better!

Drew + Jacqueline Engagement

Rome, Italy

Okay, not trying to get cheesy or anything but shooting this engagement shoot felt a bit like a scene out of a movie. Some of our team members flew to Rome, Italy to capture all the nuptials surrounding Drew + Jacqueline’s wedding. A few days before the wedding, we spent the better half of the day adventuring around Rome and photographing romantic and carefree moments with Drew + Jacqueline. Though their wedding was only a few days later, we enjoyed getting to know the couple and experience one of their favorite destinations with them!

Jake + Diana

Boston, MA

Here’s the thing about snow - you either love it or you hate it. No matter which side you land on, there’s no denying that this engagement shoot makes you feel like you want to drop what you’re doing and go for a stroll in the snow in Boston. When the real snowfall of the season happened, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to meet with Jake and Diana and capture some sweet moments.

David + Briana

Forty Steps

Newport, RI

We love this engagement shoot we did recently with David + Briana in Newport, RI. Typically, when you think of photos taken in Newport, you think light and beachy. However, we did the engagement shoot at the Cliff Walk 40 Steps which allowed us to go full force with the moody and dramatic vibe! Give us all the cliffs, all the mansions and an adventurous couple - it’s all we need!

Connor + Amanda

Fort Adams

Newport, RI

We had the privilege of capturing both photo and video for Conor and Amanda’s wedding at Fort Adams in Newport, RI. We couldn’t have loved this wedding more - from the couple, to the location, to the classic New England vibe! The personal details were immersive and strung throughout the entire wedding day. Whether you came here for inspiration or just to admire, this won’t disappoint!

Jordan + Kimberly

Roger Williams Park

Providence, RI

There’s nothing better than New England in the fall (can we get an amen?). And this engagement shoot with Jordan and Kimberly catches the full beauty this season has to offer. We headed to Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island for to do a more comfortable and cozy shoot with this incredible couple and were able to capture the sweetest moments!. The fall foliage as a backdrop only enhanced the beauty of this shoot - take a look at some of our favs!

Paul + Casey

Second Beach

Newport, RI

We recently did the most chill and fun engagement session with Paul and Casey at Second Beach in Newport, Rhode Island. The brisk autumn day made this otherwise popular spot feel like it was our own private beach. So of course, we took full advantage during the shoot! We love the peaceful ambience these photos exude as we see Paul and Casey exploring the long stretch of open beach, calm waves, and soft sand dunes. This couple has us thinking a stroll on the beach is even better in the fall!

Nick + Brittany

Elephant Rock

Middletown, RI

At Move Mountains Co, we’re always challenging ourselves to keep sessions fresh and creative with every couple so that each session is inspiring to us and unique to the couple. So it goes without saying that when a couple comes to a shoot with a clear vision, it makes things that much more exciting for us! And that’s exactly what happened here. We collaborated with Nick and Brittany to create 1 shoot that had 2 looks but still held a consistent vibe. The beautiful Elephant Rock in Middletown, RI was perfect for an earthy yet romantic backdrop.

Nick + Natalie

The Providence G

Providence, RI

We had the pleasure to capture Nick and Natalie’s beautiful day in downtown Providence, RI. We loved how they were able to fuse traditional wedding beauty with more modern details sprinkled throughout the day. It was a full day of celebrating with friends and family who travelled from all over to be at the wedding, so when we had a moment in the reception to sneak out with the bride and groom to get a few extra shots, we took it. What happened next was one of theirs (and our) favorite parts of the day! A friendly stranger saw the newlyweds, offered his congratulations, and asked if we wanted to use his classic car for a few photos. Of course, we said yes as this perfectly fit the vibe of the day. Take a look at this fun and spontaneous moment as well as a few of our favorite shots from the day!
